Corn Bites | Makai Balls

Corn bites are crispy and delicious fritters snack recipe that is prepared with corn, rice flour, corn flour and lots of spices. These bites are vegan and gluten free. This is also a quick and easy to make recipe. These bites can be made with sweet corn or desi corn. These crispy and hot bites can be made withfresh or frozen corn. Corn bites

These corn bites is prepared with grinded sweet corn, rice flour, corn flour and a melange of spices. The spices like black pepper and herbs are used. Ginger paste gives an amazing flavor. Then these balls are deep fried in oil. Grind sweet corns without adding any water. Corn flour and rice flour are added to bind them. You can serve this Continental recipe with a dip of your choice. It can be a part of snacks or appetizers.

Ingredients:

1 cup sweet corn, boiled and grinded
1 green chilli, chopped
1 tbsp. corn flour
¼ cup rice flour
½ tsp. oregano herbs
¼ tsp. black pepper
¾ tsp. ginger paste
salt to taste
¼ tsp. red chili powder
¼ tsp. coriander powder

Instructions:

Grind corns without adding any water. Take in a bowl. 


Add chopped green chilli, corn flour, rice flour, oregano herbs, black pepper, ginger paste, salt, red chili powder and coriander powder.


Mix to combine all spices. Apply oil on your hand and make small and smooth balls from them.


Heat oil in a pan on medium to high flame. Drop balls in oil gently. Stir continuously so that they can cook from all sides.


Lower the flame and cook till they become golden brown in colour.


Remove them from oil and keep them on an absorbent paper.


Serve them with your favorite dip.



Tips:

  • Add flour in right proportion. If they burst in oil, add some flour. Too much flour make them hard.
  • Grind corn without water. Extra soft mixture tend to break easily in the oil.
  • You can add cheese like mozzarella or processed.
  • You may add coriander leaves.
